Continuing the visit of the delegation of the “Iraqi Government Aid Committee to Lebanon,” a shipment of food aid provided by the Government of Iraq and allocated to the Municipality of Sidon was received a few days ago. This support is intended to assist relief efforts for displaced persons and to support the Lebanese people under the current circumstances.The handover took place during a meeting between the head of the delivery committee, Mr. Malek Al-Durai, and Engineer Hisham Hachicho, representing the Municipality of Sidon. The meeting was attended by the head of the delegation, the Iraqi government representative Mr. Qaisar Al-Hashemi, Mr. Amer Al-Jubouri, and Mr. Mohammad Trad.The aid was later distributed during the week as part of a relief operation organized by the Municipality of Sidon for displaced families residing within the municipality’s administrative area.This package is considered the first installment of a series of aid shipments pledged by the brotherly State of Iraq, reaffirming its continued support for Lebanon in times of crisis and embodying the spirit of humanitarian solidarity between the two peoples.Engineer Hachicho conveyed the Municipality of Sidon’s gratitude and appreciation to the Iraqi government and people, stating: “This generous initiative is not unusual for Iraq, which has always stood by Lebanon. We highly value this support, which will be directed directly to meeting the needs of families, and we emphasize the importance of continuing this cooperation to strengthen our ability to face growing humanitarian challenges.”For his part, Mr. Al-Durai praised the field efforts of the Municipality of Sidon, stating: “We greatly appreciate the role played by the Municipality of Sidon in sheltering displaced persons. What we have observed in terms of organization and high professionalism in managing this complex file, despite all difficulties, encourages us to continue providing all possible support to ensure that aid reaches its rightful beneficiaries in the best possible manner.”
