The Municipality of Sidon and the Mohammed Zeidan Development Association signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at beautifying Old Sidon and highlighting its historical identity during the holy month of Ramadan. The agreement was signed by the Mayor of Sidon, Engineer Mustafa Hijazi, and the President of the Association, Ms. Farah Zeidan, in the presence of members of the Municipal Council, advisors, and legal counsel from both the municipality and the Zeidan Association.

Under the memorandum of understanding, the Mohammed Zeidan Association will undertake a comprehensive heritage-themed lighting project, encompassing neighborhoods and streets previously restored by the association, as well as significant archaeological and architectural sites. These include the waterfront (from the Sea Mosque to Al-Maqasid High School), historical fortresses (the Sea Castle and the Land Castle), souks (the Gold Souk, the Vegetable Souk, the Carpenters' Souk, and the Weavers' Souk), neighborhoods and squares (Bab Al-Saraya Square, Al-Sabil neighborhood, Al-Musallabiyah neighborhood, and Zaqzouq Homs), and heritage landmarks (the Minaret neighborhood and the traditional sandstone buildings along the waterfront and in various other neighborhoods). In addition to this, the association will continue its two-month-long initiative to regularly clean and sweep the streets of Old Sidon. During Ramadan, these efforts will be reinforced with an additional team working from Iftar (breaking the fast) until Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) to ensure the well-being of the city's visitors and residents.

Mrs. Farah Zeidan, President of the Mohammed Zeidan Association, stated that this initiative stems from the association's ongoing commitment to the development of Sidon in general, and Old Sidon in particular. The association actively works to restore buildings and neighborhoods to preserve their aesthetic and cultural character, and Ramadan provides an opportunity to showcase this beauty, especially within the spiritual atmosphere that characterizes the holy month.

The Mayor of Sidon, Engineer Hijazi, thanked the Mohammed Zeidan Association for their past and present initiatives. He emphasized that the Municipality of Sidon highly values ​​all collaborative initiatives with local community members, especially the Mohammed Zeidan Association, which has consistently supported Sidon and its people. He added that the memorandum signed today is part of a long-standing partnership between the municipality and the association, and that they look forward to further cooperation in the future for the benefit of the city and the public good.
