The Mayor of Sidon, Engineer Mustafa Hijazi, received a delegation from the Humanitarian Cooperation Association, headed by the association's director, Dr. Fadi Shamiya, accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Hosni, as part of ongoing coordination to enhance relief efforts in the city. The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Dr. Ahmad Akra, municipal council members Engineer Hisham Hashisho, Engineer Rami Bashasha, Khaled Afara, Wael Qasab, and the Director of the Disaster and Crisis Management Room, Wafaa Shoaib.  

The meeting served as an occasion to discuss the relief situation in Sidon following the ceasefire declaration, within the continuous efforts carried out by the municipality in cooperation with various local and international partners. Dr. Shamiya expressed his gratitude to the Mayor, the council members, and all staff in the Disaster and Crisis Management Room, praising the pivotal role the room played in collaboration with governmental and non-governmental institutions.  

During the meeting, Dr. Shamiya reviewed the details of the relief initiative that the association intends to launch as part of a series of integrated relief programs and initiatives implemented in the city, aimed at supporting Sidon families affected by the war, as well as displaced people in the city, in addition to aid The south. He explained that this initiative comes in cooperation with the Higher Relief Authority, which agreed to bring in 15 containers of food supplies, to be distributed according to a precise coordination mechanism, in collaboration with the South Governorate and Sidon Municipality. 

For his part, engineer Mustafa Hijazi praised the initiative and the efforts made by the Humanitarian Cooperation Association throughout the war, emphasizing that this initiative adds to a series of initiatives carried out by various parties within a coordinated framework led by the municipality. He stressed that integrated relief work between the municipality, local associations, and partner institutions is key to the city’s success in hosting large numbers of displaced people, whether inside or outside shelters, highlighting the importance of continuing this approach to ensure people’s resilience and overcome the consequences of the current phase.directed to villages.
