The Sidon Municipality mourns our colleague journalist Amal Al-Khalil and condemns the Israeli crime against the media

With deep sadness and sorrow, the municipality of Sidon mourns the distinguished journalist of Al-Akhbar newspaper, Amal Al-Khalil, who was martyred today in the southern town of Tairi following a brutal Israeli attack that targeted her and her colleague Zainab Faraj while they were carrying out their media work. The martyr Amal Al-Khalil dedicated her pen to conveying the suffering and resilience of the people of the south with high professionalism and unmatched courage. Amal left us while performing her duty on the frontlines, becoming both a witness and a martyr, carrying in her heart the love of the south and in her pen the stories of resilience that the occupation wanted to erase. The municipality of Sidon condemns in the strongest terms this deliberate targeting of the media body, which comes in the context of the Israeli enemy's ongoing attempts to stifle voices and prevent journalists from fulfilling their humanitarian and national role in exposing its crimes against civilians and facilities. Targeting journalists is a documented war crime added to the enemy’s record full of international violations. The municipality of Sidon extends its deepest condolences and sympathy to the martyr's family, the Al-Akhbar newspaper family, and the entire Lebanese press, asking God Almighty to have mercy on the deceased, grant her a place in His vast paradise, and provide her family and loved ones with patience. And comfort, and may God grant our colleague Zainab Faraj a speedy recovery.
