Hijazi and Municipal Council Members Accompany Minister of Social Affairs Haneen El Sayed on Inspection Visit to the Kuwaiti School Shelter for Displaced Families

On the morning of Eid, Sidon Mayor Eng. Mustafa Hijazi, accompanied by Municipal Council members Hisham Hsheisho and Ahmad Choueib, welcomed Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Haneen El Sayed during an inspection visit to the officially designated shelter for displaced families at the Kuwaiti School in Sidon.

The visit aimed to assess firsthand the humanitarian situation and the services being provided to families who have sought refuge in the city. The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Social Affairs, the school’s principal Widad Jaradi, and URDA Executive Director Jehan Al-Qaisi.

The mayoral delegation and Minister El Sayed toured the various sections of the shelter, where they reviewed the ongoing relief operations, the distribution of aid and meals, and the available logistical and medical facilities. The minister also met directly with displaced families to hear their most urgent needs and concerns amid the current circumstances.

Mayor Hijazi welcomed the minister’s visit, stressing that:Coordination between local authorities and the relevant ministries, especially the Ministry of Social Affairs, is the cornerstone of ensuring the continued resilience of shelter centers. Sidon is making efforts that exceed its capacity, and we rely on the support of the ministry and international organizations to secure at least the minimum requirements for a dignified life for our displaced guests.”

For her part, Minister El Sayed praised the vital role played by the Sidon Municipality and its Disaster Management Unit, stating:We came today to reaffirm the state’s support for Sidon, its residents, and the displaced families it is hosting. We witnessed remarkable organization and tremendous efforts at the Kuwaiti School. Through the ministry, we will work to overcome challenges and provide additional support and essential supplies to meet the needs of all shelter centers across the city.”
