Saida Municipality - Media Office

By guidance from the Ministry of Health - Primary Healthcare Department, the municipalities of Saida and Tyre, in cooperation with the Imam Sadr Institutions, organized a health day in Saida Municipality and the participation of the cardiology clinic from the Malta Organization.

The activity was attended by the Mayor of Saida, Engineer Mustafa Hijazi, who praised the efforts exerted for the success of this day and the diversity of medical services accompanying the activity, welcoming every cooperation and partnership that serves the sons of the nation all. Beside him, attended the head of the health committee in Saida Municipality, Dr. Tayseer Al-Zaatari, and members of the municipal council, Engineer Mohammad Dandashli and Mr. Wael Qasab, and the director of the Crisis and Disaster Management Cell, Mrs. Wafaa Shuaib, and representatives of the health department in the Ministry of Health - South Governorate, Mrs. Faten Mostafa and Mr. Hassan Youssef.

From Tyre Municipality, municipal council members Dr. Nada Younis and Mr. Sadek Aoun participated in the activity, who stressed the importance of networking between municipalities and participatory work, provided that this day be a good opening for future cooperation in many health and other fields between the two municipalities.

The Imam Sadr Institutions were represented by the attendance of its Director General, Dr. Nejad Sharafeddin, beside the director of the Health and Social Services Department, Dr. Ghada Al-Zein, and the pharmaceutical supervisor of the essential drugs program, Dr. Layal Dehaini, with a specialized team of doctors and nurses.

The activity targeted approximately 320 beneficiaries of residents and displaced persons in the city through providing examinations and medical consultations in the following specialties: cardiology, family medicine, pediatrics and neonatology, gynecology with Echography, endocrine and diabetes, pressure and kidneys, bones, joints and rheumatism, in addition to psychological support.

These examinations were accompanied by the dispensing of 792 free medicine boxes and 122 referrals for laboratory tests and X-ray images, beside ECG and Echocardiography services which the heart clinic provided to 22 beneficiaries.

This humanitarian health initiative came from the belief of all partner parties in the necessity of supporting communities through obtaining their right to medical treatment and dignified healthcare, and the importance of sharing societal responsibility and the role of cooperative work in serving communities in light of crises, wars, and disasters, so everyone met on the principle that health is our shared responsibility for a society that enjoys stronger health and more sustainable wellness.
