Coordination meeting at the Municipality of Sidon to enhance response and cooperation in psychosocial support and protection

A coordination meeting was held at the Municipality of Sidon, called for by the Disaster Risk and Crisis Management Cell, with the participation of the Mayor of Sidon, members of the municipal council, the head of the cell, and the working team. The meeting also included representatives of partner institutions and associations registered with the Ministries of Social Affairs and Education and Higher Education, working within the sectors/clusters (CP, MHPSS, GBV, Education), as part of the Lebanon Response Plan (LRP).

The meeting comes as part of following up on field operations in shelter centers and host communities, and addressing the main challenges faced by various sectors amid the ongoing pressure resulting from the current situation.

During the meeting, the Mayor emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination between all concerned parties, stressing the role of the municipality as a local platform that brings efforts together and ensures their integration, contributing to improving the effectiveness of the response and reducing duplication of services.

The meeting also included a presentation of the current interventions across different sectors, and a discussion of ways to improve work mechanisms, particularly in relation to information sharing, data management, and ensuring that services reach the most vulnerable groups, while taking into account the needs of the host community.

Participants stressed the necessity of adhering to the established regulatory frameworks under the LRP response plan, and strengthening work within the cluster system to ensure a fair and systematic distribution of aid and services.

In conclusion, the participants confirmed the continuation of periodic coordination meetings and the strengthening of communication channels among all partners, in line with the requirements of the current phase and to enhance the city of Sidon’s capacity for effective crisis response.
