As part of its ongoing and diligent efforts to protect public health, maintain environmental cleanliness, and preserve the city's urban appearance, Sidon Municipality announces that it has taken strict legal measures against an offender who threatened the health safety of citizens by dumping hazardous waste in public areas, contrary to legal regulations.  Details: On the evening of Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 10:00 PM, a citizen reported spotting someone disposing of 'spoiled meat portions' directly onto the public road in the coastal highway area (next to Sidon Municipality's dump). When the municipal police tried to question the offender, he deliberately lied and avoided answering, refused to give his name, then got into his vehicle and fled the scene. However, the awareness of nearby citizens helped document the violation and record the vehicle’s license plate Upon receiving the report documented with photographs, the Sidon Municipal Police leadership referred an official referral document alongside the mayor. Accordingly, an urgent letter was prepared to be sent to the Governor of South Lebanon, instructing the competent security and law enforcement agencies to immediately investigate the owner of the mentioned pickup, apprehend him, file official violation reports against him, and take all necessary legal and judicial measures. Sidon Municipality emphasizes that dumping waste, especially food scraps and spoiled meat that pose a direct threat to public health and cause the spread of epidemics and bad odors, is a red line that will never be tolerated. The municipality also appreciates the role of conscientious citizens, who are a key partner in controlling these violations.
