Saida municipality members Majed Abdel Jawad and Yusuf Taameh, head of the Environment Committee, took part in the fifth discussion session titled 'Water Scarcity and the Social Tensions It Causes in the South,' held in Saida with the presence of representatives from local authorities, civil society, and water sector stakeholders. 

The meeting addressed the growing challenges in southern Lebanon due to the worsening water crisis and its impact on social stability and relations between local communities. It also included a brief overview of policies prepared by the 'Weam' Project coalition aimed at supporting sustainable water sector reforms in the short and medium term.

During the discussion, the Saida municipality delegation outlined the city’s situation regarding water cuts and the increasing reliance on wells, emphasizing the importance of improving infrastructure, enhancing coordination with the South Lebanon Water Authority, and working on practical solutions to ensure fair distribution and resource sustainability.

The municipal delegation confirmed that water issues are a top priority within the work of the Environment Committee, given their direct link to public health and social stability, calling for strengthened partnerships with relevant authorities and donors to launch structural projects that help mitigate the crisis in Saida .This meeting comes as part of strengthening dialogue between the various parties involved and aiming to come up with practical ideas that help improve water management in the city and the south in general.
