The Mayor of Sidon, Engineer Mustafa Hijazi, met with the Prime Minister, Judge Nawaf Salam, during his visit to the Sidon Government Palace, accompanied by Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Hanin Al-Sayed and Head of the Disaster Management Unit Zahi Shaheen, to get a first-hand look, along with the Governor of Southern Lebanon Mansour Doueihy, at the progress of relief work and the efforts to shelter displaced people by the Crisis and Disaster Management Cell in Southern Lebanon.

During the meeting, Enginer Hijazi gave a detailed and comprehensive presentation on the humanitarian situation in Sidon, updating the Prime Minister on the enormous pressure faced by municipal agencies, emergency teams, and local NGOs that support the municipality in relief efforts.

In a statement after the meeting, Engineer Hijazi confirmed:

"We have conveyed to Prime Minister Salam the tough reality we are living in Sidon, from the severe traffic crisis in all the city streets to the humanitarian crisis facing displaced people. Today, we are truly short on resources and space. We have called on the government and international organizations to intervene immediately to provide funds and urgent aid, so they can be ready in the municipality's warehouses, especially if things get worse than they are now."For his part, Judge Nawaf Salam confirmed that his visit today to the Disaster and Crisis Management Cell is a clear message of support for the tremendous efforts being made by the governorate, the Sidon municipality, and the crisis cell, emphasizing that the government places the issue of aiding displaced people and supporting host municipalities at the top of its priorities.
