A force from the Municipal Police, accompanied by Council Member and Head of the Violations Committee Wael Kassab, carried out a field patrol covering various shops across the city’s neighborhoods and markets. The purpose of the patrol was to enforce the municipality’s directive banning the sale of fireworks. The inspection aimed to ensure shop owners’ compliance with the municipal decisions. Strict warnings were issued to violating shops found in possession of fireworks, with confiscation of materials that pose a risk to public safety, and confirmation that legal action will be taken in case of repeated violations.Kassab stated during the patrol that this step comes as a reinforcement of the municipality’s earlier directive and in response to increasing complaints from citizens regarding the disturbances and dangers caused by fireworks. He added:“We are committed to the safety and stability of Sidon and the comfort of its residents. The municipal directive is not just ink on paper, but a measure to protect our people from accidents and fires that may result from these materials. Patrols will continue to preserve the city’s safety and tranquility.”In conclusion, Sidon Municipality called on residents to cooperate by reporting any violations and to raise awareness among their children about the dangers of such fireworks, in order to safeguard public safety and maintain calm in residential neighborhoods.
