Mayor of Sidon meets the Prime Minister to discuss vital developmental and administrative issues for the city of Sidon

The Mayor of Sidon, Engineer Mustafa Hijazi, visited the Prime Minister, Judge Nawaf Salam, where they discussed a number of key issues related to municipal and development work in the city of Sidon.The meeting addressed investment projects in partnership with the private sector (PPP) and mechanisms to activate them according to the approved legal frameworks, in a way that contributes to enhancing local development, stimulating economic activity, and creating sustainable job opportunities.The discussion also covered the Sidon vegetable and fruit market (the “Hesba”), as well as the issue of land readjustment and parceling and related urban planning and regulatory matters. Additionally, the topic of staffing the Sidon Municipality was raised, including the possibility of opening recruitment in accordance with legal procedures, in order to strengthen administrative capacity and improve public services.On the infrastructure level, the Arab Highway project and its related studies were discussed, particularly the proposed planning options and their impact on the urban fabric and traffic flow. The Mayor noted that a technical meeting had been held with the Council for Development and Reconstruction to follow up on this project from engineering and implementation perspectives.At the conclusion of the meeting, the Mayor extended an official invitation to the Prime Minister to visit the city of Sidon during the holy month of Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of government support and engagement with the city’s development projects at this stage.
