The Municipality of Sidon, Engineer Mustafa Hijazi, and Sidon MP, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Bizri, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Dr. Ahmed Akra and several members of the municipal council, conducted an inspection tour of the Al-Maqasid building in the city center to assess firsthand the extensive damage caused by the treacherous Israeli aggression that targeted the building at dawn today.

Hijazi and his delegation inspected the damage inflicted on the building and surrounding shops and institutions. They also contacted relevant authorities and technical teams to evaluate the damage and take the necessary measures to address the repercussions of the attack.

At the conclusion of the tour, Engineer Hijazi issued a statement affirming that:

“Targeting the Al-Maqasid building is an attack on Sidon’s civic, educational, and humanitarian symbol. This edifice, which houses professional offices, medical clinics, and a center for Lebanese Red Cross volunteers, has no connection to any military activity, and targeting it constitutes a heinous crime aimed at terrorizing the city and striking at its civilian institutions.” He added: “We thank God for the safety of the staff and volunteers who were in the building, and we extend our condolences to the families of the martyrs and pray for the speedy recovery of the wounded. The Municipality of Sidon stands with all its resources alongside the Makassed Association and all those affected, and will work with the relevant authorities to address the damage and restore normalcy to the area as quickly as possible.”

He concluded by saying: “Sidon will remain resilient and unbroken, and its civil and humanitarian institutions will continue to fulfill their mission, no matter the challenges.”
