As part of a series of field visits to keep up with the displacement crisis, the Mayor of Sidon, Engineer Mustafa Hijazi, accompanied by Vice President Dr. Ahmed Akra, carried out an extensive inspection tour that included several approved shelters in the city. The tour was joined by a delegation of municipal council members including Engineer Mohammed Dandashli, Majid Abduljawad, Wael Qasab, Mustafa Al-Bazri, Hisham Jaradi, Youssef Taameh, Hisham Hashisho, Rami Bshasha, Taysir Zaatri, Khaled Afara, and Ahmed Shoaib, in addition to the Operations Room Director, Ms. Wafaa Shoaib. The visit aimed to get a hands-on view of the shelters and check on the situation of families arriving in the city. The municipal delegation met with the shelter administrations, including officials and volunteers, and received detailed reports on capacity, urgent shortages in food supplies, medical needs, and necessary logistical requirements to ensure continuous operation. The mayor and council members also made sure to speak directly with the displaced families, listening to their living conditions and needs, reassuring them that the municipality, through its various committees and teams, is working at full capacity to ensure their dignity and provide the essentials for a decent life despite the available resources .At the end of the tour, Engineer Hijazi confirmed that this visit comes to strengthen trust and direct communication between the municipality and our displaced people on one hand, and the volunteers who put in great efforts managing the shelters on the other. He added:

“We fully understand the extent of the suffering and the shortages, and our presence in the field today aims to accurately identify priorities and work on providing basic needs through the crisis cell and coordination with donor agencies. Saida, as always, will not abandon its guests, and the municipal council, with all its members and committees, is in a constant state of alert to follow up on this humanitarian issue.”

This tour comes as part of the field action plan approved by Saida Municipality to enhance coordination with relevant parties, ensure transparency in aid distribution, and quickly address any logistical gaps.
