At the invitation of Mayor Mustafa Hijazi, a meeting was held at the Sidon Municipality, bringing together prominent figures from the city's religious and political circles, to discuss the pressing humanitarian and relief situation the city is facing due to the large influx of displaced people.

In addition to the mayor, his deputy Dr. Ahmed Akra, and members of the municipal council, the meeting was attended by MP Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Bizri, MP Dr. Osama Saad, Mrs. Bahia Hariri, President of the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development, Dr. Bassam Hammoud, Vice President of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Group, Sheikh Salim Sawsan, Mufti of Sidon and its districts, Sheikh Muhammad Asiran, Jaafari Mufti of Sidon, Monsignor Maroun Kiwan, Youssef Taameh representing Bishop Bechara Haddad, former Mayor of Sidon Dr. Hazem Badie, President of the Sidon Merchants Association Ali Al-Sharif, President of the NGO Network Majid Hamto, Director of the Disaster and Crisis Risk Management Unit Wafaa Shuaib, and the Crisis Management Unit team.

The meeting also included members of the Crisis Management Unit. Engineer Mustafa Hijazi opened the meeting with a detailed presentation of the past week's events, outlining the efforts undertaken by the municipality's Crisis and Disaster Management Committee to shelter thousands of displaced people and secure their basic needs. He also briefed attendees on the logistical and financial difficulties facing the municipality, particularly as shelters have reached their maximum capacity and available resources are being depleted.

During the meeting, participants emphasized their unwavering support for the municipality. The assembled groups affirmed their full backing for the Sidon Municipality's efforts as the official and central body for relief operations, stressing the necessity of combining all political, religious, and civic efforts to bolster the city's resilience. Attendees also emphasized that Sidon's strength lies in the unity of its people and the cohesion of its institutions, affirming that the city will remain, as it always has been, a model of national and humanitarian solidarity. It was agreed to enhance coordination to urge the government, relevant authorities, and international organizations to provide immediate assistance commensurate with the burden borne by Sidon, and to ensure a dignified life for both the displaced and the host community. In conclusion, the attendees agreed to keep their meetings open to monitor developments on the ground, emphasizing that Sidon stands united in the face of aggression, and that work will continue to ensure the security and stability of the city and to provide relief to the displaced.
