The Disaster and Crisis Risk Management Room in the Municipality of Sidon announces an update to its data indicators regarding the influx of displaced persons into designated shelters within the city, covering the period from March 2 to 10, 2026.

The Operations Room confirms that it is continuing its work to complete the field survey of remaining humanitarian and service needs in the shelters, and that updated indicators will be issued subsequently to keep pace with developments in the humanitarian situation in the city.

In this context, the Municipality of Sidon notes an excess capacity indicator of 25.14%, reflecting the significant pressure on the shelters and the city's service infrastructure, and confirming that the shelters in Sidon have exceeded their current capacity.

The recorded indicators also show a decline in the ability to meet a number of basic needs, particularly shelter, food, medicine, and other essential services, which poses additional challenges to humanitarian response efforts. Accordingly, the Municipality of Sidon reiterates its previous statements emphasizing the necessity of directing displaced persons to shelters located north of the city. This is crucial to alleviate pressure on overcrowded centers and ensure a minimum level of humanitarian response.

Field data indicates that some displaced persons have already begun leaving several shelters that have exceeded their capacity. Furthermore, a number of people who were sleeping on the streets have realized that the city has reached its maximum capacity at present.

The Municipality of Sidon affirms that it continues, in cooperation with official bodies and relevant organizations, to manage this phase with the utmost coordination and responsibility, preserving the dignity of the displaced and ensuring the effective management of the humanitarian response within the available resources.
