The Municipality of Sidon, Engineer Mustafa Hijazi, received Sidon MP Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Bizri for an inspection visit to the Disaster and Crisis Risk Management Operations Room. The visit aimed to monitor field relief efforts and assess the city's needs amidst the ongoing displacement crisis.The meeting was attended by Municipal Council members Majid Abdul Jawad and Hisham Hashisho, the Director of the Disaster and Crisis Risk Management Operations Room, Wafaa Shuaib, Kamel Shreiteh, Dania Baydoun, and Karim Al-Baba.During the meeting, MP Al-Bizri was briefed on the severe shortages the municipality is facing on several fronts: the health sector, including securing chronic medications, medical supplies, and sterilization equipment to prevent the spread of epidemics; logistics, including the ongoing maintenance challenges of educational facilities that have been converted into shelters; and food, including ensuring a continuous supply of meals, basic provisions, milk, and infant formula. Dr. Al-Bizri praised the pivotal role played by the Municipality of Sidon and its operations room, describing them as "the backbone of the city's resilience." He said, "I came today to see firsthand the extent of the burdens borne by the municipality. Sidon is fulfilling a great national duty, and it is our collective responsibility, as political forces and official bodies, to exert pressure to secure the necessary resources for the municipality to continue performing its health and logistical tasks. We will work diligently to secure the required support through official channels and international organizations to confront this significant challenge."For his part, Engineer Hijazi thanked Dr. Al-Bizri for his constant attention and follow-up, emphasizing, "Dr. Al-Bizri's visit today strengthens the coordination of unified Sidonian efforts. We briefed him on all the details on the ground, and we rely on his role in conveying Sidon's voice and its urgent needs to governmental and donor agencies, to ensure the dignity of our displaced people and the stability of our city."
