Hijazi, Al-Zein, and Wakim Inspect the Site of the Attack in Al-Fawar Area: The Unity of Sidon and Its Surroundings Is Stronger Than Intimidation AttemptsSidon Municipality – Media OfficeThe President of the Sidon-Zahrani Municipalities Union and Mayor of Sidon, Engineer Mustafa Hijazi, conducted an inspection tour of the site of the brutal Israeli attack that targeted a peaceful residential area in the “Hibah Projects” in the Al-Fawar district, in order to assess the extent of the damage and express solidarity with the affected residents.The tour was joined by the Mayor of Haret Saida, Mr. Mustafa Al-Zein, and the Mayor of Mieh Mieh, Mr. Ghassan Wakim, in the presence of Sidon Municipal Council members Wael Qassab, Majed Abdel Jawad, and Ahmad Choueib.The mayors and accompanying delegation inspected the extensive damage inflicted on residential buildings and private properties and met with residents who were terrorized by the explosion in an area characterized as purely civilian and residential. This joint visit reaffirmed the solidarity between the city of Sidon and its neighboring communities—Haret Saida and Mieh Mieh—in confronting the consequences of the attack.Speaking from the site of the attack, Engineer Hijazi strongly condemned the incident, stating:“What we witnessed today in the Al-Fawar area and the Hibah Projects is further evidence of the brutality of this aggression, which makes no distinction between one area and another, targeting defenseless and innocent civilians in their homes. The deliberate shelling of residential neighborhoods is clearly intended to terrorize the population and spread fear throughout Sidon and its surroundings. This is an act condemned by all international and humanitarian laws.”Hijazi added:“The enemy’s attempts to divide our ranks or intimidate our people will not succeed. Our presence here today alongside my fellow mayors from Haret Saida and Mieh Mieh sends a clear message that we are one front, one heart, and share one destiny. Sidon and its neighboring communities will remain united in the face of this aggression, and we will work tirelessly with all concerned parties to remove the effects of this treacherous attack and strengthen the resilience of our people.”At the conclusion of the visit, the mayors instructed technical teams and municipal public works departments to coordinate immediately in assessing the damage, ensuring the safety of structurally affected buildings, and clearing debris to facilitate the movement of residents in the affected area.
