Hijazi and Municipal Council Members Conduct Night Inspection of “Al Afaq Institute” Shelter Center.

Sidon Mayor Engineer Mustafa Hijazi, accompanied by Municipal Council members Baraa Hariri, Youssef Touma, Hisham Hsheisho, Ahmad Choueib, and Director of the Disaster Risk Management and Crisis Unit Wafaa Choueib, conducted a field inspection visit to the shelter center for displaced families at Al Afaq Institute. The visit aimed to assess the living and logistical conditions of the families hosted at the center. The municipal delegation was received by Mr. Mazen Imad, representative of the Rahim Association, who provided a detailed overview of the center’s management system and the daily services being offered to displaced families in cooperation with the institute’s administration and partner organizations. The delegation also reviewed accommodation conditions and the availability of essential supplies, including mattresses, blankets, and other basic necessities. During the visit, the delegation spoke directly with displaced families, listened to their concerns and requests, and reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to supporting them and helping secure their essential needs. Mayor Hijazi praised the efforts of the Rahim Association and the administration of Al Afaq Institute, stressing that “solidarity among educational institutions, civil society organizations, and the municipality is what protects our community during these difficult circumstances.” For his part, Mr. Mazen Imad thanked Sidon Municipality for its continuous follow-up and support, affirming Rahim Association’s commitment to working side by side with the Disaster Management Unit to provide the best possible care for displaced families.
