The Sidon Municipal Council held a meeting in the Disaster and Crisis Risk Management Room, chaired by Mayor Mustafa Hijazi, and attended by Deputy Mayor Dr. Ahmed Akra and council members Angie Atruni, Iman Battah, Baraa Hariri, Mustafa Bizri, Khaled Afara, Majed Abdel Jawad, Wael Qasab, Youssef Taameh, Hisham Hashisho, and Ahmed Shuaib, along with the Operations Room Director, Wafaa Shuaib, and a team of volunteers from the Hariri Foundation and the Dr. Nazih Bizri Foundation. The meeting aimed to finalize the mechanism for distributing aid to displaced families residing in homes within the Sidon administrative boundaries.The attendees discussed the results of field surveys and databases compiled over the past period and approved the distribution mechanism. The process is scheduled to begin in the coming days, ensuring the fair and organized delivery of food and logistical aid to families not benefiting from official shelters. Following the meeting, the municipal team conducted a field visit to the Sidon Municipal Stadium (Martyr President Rafik Hariri Stadium), which has been officially designated as the main center and logistics hub for collecting and distributing aid.The delegation inspected the site's readiness, particularly the areas designated for storage and unloading. They emphasized the implementation of a precise organizational mechanism based on a system of appointments and documented regulations. This mechanism aims to prevent overcrowding, ensure a smooth process, and preserve the dignity of the beneficiary families.At the conclusion of the tour, Mayor Mustafa Hijazi stated:“We are aware of the burdens borne by host families and displaced persons residing in homes, and today we announce the mobilization of municipal teams to launch this phase. The selection of the municipal stadium was based on its spacious and organized layout, facilitating the movement of personnel and equipment. We assure you that the distribution process will be transparent and fair, and details and procedures for receiving aid will be announced subsequently through official channels.” The municipal council stressed the need for all partner organizations and associations to fully coordinate with the municipality's operations room, in order to ensure unified efforts, prevent duplication of aid or conflicting data, and guarantee comprehensive coverage of all neighborhoods within the administrative boundaries of Sidon.
