Saida Municipality Welcomes Delegation from the Iraqi Government’s "Aid Committee for Lebanon," Led by Deputy Minister of Industry Al-Hashimi; Support for the Lebanese People's Resilience Reaffirmed Saida Municipality – Media Office

Saida Municipality Engineer Mustafa Hijazi received a delegation from the "Iraqi Government Aid Committee for Lebanon," led by Iraqi Deputy Minister of Industry Mr. Qaisar Al-Hashimi. The delegation included committee members Mr. Malik Al-Durei and Mr. Amer Al-Jubouri, accompanied by Mr. Mohammad Trad and Mr. Hussein Trad.
The meeting was attended by Municipal Council members Baraa Hariri, Mohammad Dandashli, Hisham Jaradi, Youssef Tohme, Hisham Hashisho, Majid Abdel-Jawad, Wael Qasab, and Ahmed Shoaib, as well as Operations Room Director Wafaa Shoaib.The Iraqi delegation received a detailed briefing in the operations room on the progress of relief efforts for displaced persons and the shelter mechanisms in place in the city.
During the meeting, Mr. Al-Hashemi emphasized the Iraqi religious authority's and the Iraqi government's commitment to standing with the brotherly Lebanese people and supporting Lebanon in every way possible to bolster its resilience in the face of ongoing Israeli aggression. Mr. Al-Hashemi also commended the Sidon municipality for its organized and transparent management of the displacement crisis .For his part, Engineer Hijazi outlined the main challenges facing the sheltering process and entrusted the delegation with a formal letter of thanks addressed to the leadership and religious authorities in Iraq, in appreciation of their unwavering support for Lebanon and the city of Sidon during crises.
Following the meeting, the municipal team and the Iraqi delegation conducted a field visit that included one of the central kitchens responsible for preparing daily meals for the shelters. The delegation observed the food preparation process, the food safety standards in place, and the urgent needs facing the food relief sector, particularly the shortage of essential raw materials necessary for the continued operation of these kitchens .At the end of the tour, the Iraqi delegation expressed its deep understanding of the magnitude of the logistical pressure, and Mr. Al-Hashemi promised to immediately convey these urgent needs to the relevant Iraqi authorities to work on securing as much in-kind assistance and raw materials as possible to support the continuity of relief work in Sidon.
