Sidon Mayor Eng. Mustafa Hijazi received the Chargé d’Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Lebanon, Ms. Nada Karim Majoul, during an official visit dedicated to overseeing the distribution of humanitarian and in-kind assistance to Iraqi citizens residing in the city of Sidon.

he meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Dr. Ahmad Akra, and Municipal Council members Wael Kassab and Ahmad Shuaib.During the meeting, Ms. Nada Karim Majoul expressed Iraq’s leadership and people’s commitment to following up on the conditions of Iraqi citizens in Lebanon, stressing that the embassy’s efforts represent a “national and moral duty toward our expatriate sons and daughters.”

Majoul stated that:

"This initiative comes within the broader humanitarian role played by Iraq toward our brothers in Lebanon. Iraq has always been among the first to stand by the Lebanese people and provide assistance to displaced persons and those affected by crises, out of our belief in the shared destiny and brotherhood that unite the two brotherly peoples."

For his part, Mayor Eng. Mustafa Hijazi welcomed Ms. Majoul and the accompanying delegation, expressing his deep appreciation for this initiative and praising Iraq’s historic supportive positions toward Lebanon.

He said:

"We highly value this noble gesture from the Iraqi Embassy. Iraq has never hesitated to extend a helping hand to Lebanon in the most difficult circumstances. Sidon, which today embraces many dear Iraqi families, takes pride in this mutual care. Your initiative today reflects the depth of the brotherly relations between our two countries, and at Sidon Municipality we greatly appreciate this cooperation, which strengthens the resilience of our people during this sensitive phase."

The meeting also addressed ways to enhance cooperation between the Municipality and the Iraqi Embassy regarding Iraqi assistance in general, and specifically ensuring continued follow-up on the needs of Iraqi citizens in Sidon and overcoming any challenges they may face.

Mayor Hijazi affirmed that the doors of the Municipality and its operations room will always remain open to provide all possible support and facilitation in cooperation with the Iraqi Embassy.
