Sidon Municipality has taken an urgent decision to file a personal complaint through the Public Prosecutor’s Office against an unknown perpetrator, following the act of dumping the toxic substance “ Lannate ”  on a public road in the area of the Turkish Hospital in the city.

The Municipality explained that this irresponsible act could lead to serious harm, posing a significant danger to both humans and animals. It revealed that the toxic substance has already caused the death of a number of animals in the area.

In this context, Sidon Municipality called on the Ministries of Public Health and Agriculture to strictly enforce their decisions banning the use of Methomyl (Methomyl / Lannate). The Municipality also called for activating monitoring and enforcement measures based on the previously issued official decisions related to this matter:

• Decision No. 1048, issued on 13 June 2016.

• Decision No. 159/1, issued on 7 March 2019.

This legal and environmental action by Sidon Municipality aims to protect public safety and limit the spread of legally prohibited hazardous substances, in order to safeguard citizens’ health and preserve the surrounding environment.
