The Health Committee is organizing awareness tours on food safety for kitchens that provide hot meals to displaced people living in Sidon.

Under the motto 'Your food safety is our shared responsibility,' and under the guidance of the Mayor of Sidon and the Operations Room Manager in the Disaster Management Cell, with direct follow-up by the Head of the Health Committee, Dr. Taysir Al-Zaatari, the Health Committee in the Crisis and Disaster Management Cell at Sidon Municipality organized awareness tours and support for all kitchens providing hot lunch meals for displaced people staying in shelters within the city. The follow-up team consisted of Health Committee members Ms. Lina Al-Alam and Ms. Amani Abu Zeinab, along with volunteers from the Food Safety team specialized in public health, food safety, and general safety: Ms. Rosa Hattit, Ms. Aisha Al-Zino, and Engineer Farouk Hashisho. The committee praised the outstanding performance and clear commitment of many kitchens to food safety and general safety standards. The team members shared with the kitchen managers brochures containing all details on personal hygiene requirements for workers, general cleanliness of the place, storage requirements, preparation, manufacturing, and transportation standards, pest and rodent control conditions, and equipment and tools usage, in addition to a special attachment on safe use of gas in terms of storage, delivery, ventilation, and installation.Maintenance and how to deal with leaks and emergency situations. The team also checked how work is going in the kitchens and listened to all the requests and concerns raised by the managers there regarding the duration of the war, and therefore the increasing and urgent need for raw materials to ensure work continuity and provide meals at the required level according to the necessary food and health standards. Such visits should be carried out regularly and routinely by the team for support, awareness, and to ensure everyone's general and food safety, and the requests and challenges faced by these kitchens should be followed up with the relevant authorities.
